The President of Hirshabelle State, Ali Abdullahi Hussein (Ali Guudlawe), officially opened the 17th session of the Hirshabelle State Parliament on Monday in a ceremony underscoring the region’s legislative progress, security efforts, and future political direction.
Parliamentary Speaker Abdihakim Luqman Haji Mohamed commenced the session with a welcoming address, commending lawmakers for their resilience and urging continued commitment to their legislative duties. He lauded the parliament’s role in shaping policies that promote regional stability and development.
In his keynote speech, President Guudlawe praised the effective collaboration between the legislative body and security forces in the ongoing campaign against Al-Shabaab, the militant group responsible for years of insurgent violence across Somalia. He acknowledged parliamentarians’ crucial support in strengthening security infrastructure and advancing anti-terror operations.
“You have established a stable policy framework, and your unwavering support in the operation to eradicate the Khawarij has been instrumental in maintaining security and stability,” the President stated, using a derogatory term for Al-Shabaab.
President Guudlawe also emphasized the need for continued unity between the executive and legislative branches, noting that such cooperation is vital to addressing the region’s challenges and sustaining progress in governance and development.
He concluded his remarks with a heartfelt prayer, asking for divine guidance and strength for the parliamentarians as they carry out their responsibilities.
The opening of the 17th parliamentary session marks a significant moment for Hirshabelle, as state leadership reaffirms its commitment to legislative advancement, enhanced security, and long-term socio-economic growth.
