On Thursday, the Somali Prime Minister, Hon. Hamza Abdi Barre, presided over the graduation ceremony of officers and units from the Somali National Army’s elite Gorgor Force. These forces had successfully completed advanced military training in Turkey and at the Turkish military training base, Turksom, in Mogadishu.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Barre emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to building a strong and professional Somali National Army, equipped with comprehensive military knowledge and effective leadership. This, he said, is essential to realizing Somalia’s vision of a stable and self-reliant state with capable armed forces.
He underlined that the defense and liberation of the country remain the army’s top priority. “Every soldier must uphold integrity and understand the significance of their role,” he stated.
“The armed forces are the backbone of a resilient, sovereign nation. It is your duty to uphold that responsibility,” the Prime Minister urged. “You must prepare yourselves to liberate our country from its enemies and to restore the values, integrity, and unity of the Somali people.”
Prime Minister Barre also commended the newly trained officers, noting that their skills and dedication will play a critical role in the government’s ongoing efforts to restore national security and combat terrorist groups that threaten Somalia’s unity and stability.
He concluded by expressing sincere gratitude to the government and people of Turkey for their unwavering support and solidarity with Somalia.
