MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi on Sunday embarked on a diplomatic visit to the United Arab Emirates, his first since assuming office late last year, following an official invitation from Abu Dhabi.
The United Arab Emirates has long maintained strong ties with Somaliland, a region that declared independence from Somalia in 1991 but has yet to gain international recognition. To facilitate the visit, the UAE dispatched a private jet to transport Abdullahi from Hargeisa.
During his trip, the President is expected to engage in high-level talks with Emirati officials, focusing on critical security and economic matters. A primary topic of discussion will be the continued expansion of Berbera port, alongside other ongoing infrastructure projects in Somaliland.
